Hank Williams Jr. is the leading purveyor of southern rock and blues. The prolific singer-songwriter entered the country music scene at an early age, thanks to the influence of his father, the brilliant and famous country musician Hank Williams. Williams Jr. became a force in the country music genre as well and sold over 70 million records. He rose to prominence in the mid-'60s, especially with the release of his first number 1 album, Songs My Father Left Me. The platinum-selling singer continued to dominate the 70s, especially with hits like “Eleven Roses,” Pride’s Not Hard to Swallow,” “Whiskey Bent and Hell Bound,” and “Last Love Song.”
By the 1980s, Williams continued his winning streak with eight number-1 songs, including “Honky Tonkin,” “All My Rowdy Friends (Have Settled Down),” “Ain’t Misbehavin,” “Born to Boogie,” and “Mind Your Own Business.” It’s been almost six decades since Williams dropped his debut album in 1964, but he remains a top-charting performer to this day. His 2016 effort It’s About Time peaked at number 2 on Billboard’s Country chart and number 15 on the Billboard 200. In this decade, four out of his six released studio efforts entered the Country chart’s top 10.
